White Lotus withdrawals got you down? From Sicily to Hawaii, here’s everything you need to know about The White Lotus travel destinations and how you can experience these stunning locations yourself.
With The White Lotus season 3 coming to an end, my social media feeds have been completely taken over by character memes and beautiful photos of Thailand. Not that I’m complaining – as a pop-culture travel specialist I LIVE for moments such as this. And with pop-culture travel on the rise, I’ve been getting more and more requests from people eager to visit the stunning locations featured in their favorite shows—especially The White Lotus.
So far, there have been 3 seasons of The White Lotus, each one set in a jaw-dropping vacation hotspot. Season 1 brought the drama to Maui, Hawaii. Season 2 transported us to the sun-soaked cliffs of Sicily, Italy. And the newest season, Season 3, unfolds in the vibrant beauty of Thailand. The best part? These aren’t just studio sets—they’re real, luxurious resorts you can actually stay at. From tropical beachfronts to historic hillside retreats, these White Lotus filming locations are just as unforgettable in person as they are on screen.
Season 1
The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Hawaii

Nestled on the sun-drenched coast of Maui, the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea exudes an opulent serenity that became instantly iconic as the backdrop for season 1 of HBO’s The White Lotus. With its terraced pools, sweeping ocean views, and lush tropical gardens, the property transcends the typical luxury resort. It’s not merely a place to stay—it’s a setting that breathes character into every frame of the series.
The resort’s architectural grandeur, with its open-air atriums and artfully curated Hawaiian motifs, set the tone for the show’s intricate narrative of privilege and introspection. Every corner—from the infinity pool overlooking the Pacific to the discreet spa sanctuaries—offers a vignette worthy of screen time.

Guests drawn by the allure of The White Lotus will find that the ambiance portrayed on screen mirrors reality. For the full White Lotus experience, guests can book a stay in the notorious ‘Pineapple Suite’, where (spoiler) Armond was killed, which is actually called the Lokelani Presidential Suite, or take a dip in the resort’s infinity pool, pictured above and seen in the show.
In addition to that, there is a secret off-menu cocktail that was createdin honor of the show. The aptly named “White Lotus” is a gin-based cocktail, with lavender, chamomile, kiawe-infused honey and fresh lemon juice. Yum!
Whether it’s a quiet morning walk along Wailea Beach or an indulgent meal at Spago, there’s an undercurrent of mystique beneath the polished service and idyllic setting.

Season 2
San Domenico Palace, Taormina, a Four Seasons Hotel
Season 2 took things up a notch in Taormina, Sicily, Italy, at the San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons Hotel. Perched on cliffs overlooking the Ionian Sea, this former 14th-century monastery offers a truly cinematic experience—think dramatic balconies, stunning courtyards, and Michelin-starred dining.

The White Lotus Sicily hotel offers historic architecture, stunning sea views, and all the grandeur of a cliffside Sicilian escape. It’s like stepping into a romantic film—with just a hint of scandal.
This popular honeymoon and celebrity getaway spot requires that you book well in-advance —especially if you plan on going in the very busy summer months. Look for packages that include breakfast or spa services, but for the best service here or at any of the other resorts, your best bet will be by booking with a travel agent, since we already have long-standing relationships with these destinations.

Season 3: Thailand
Unlike the first two seasons, The White Lotus Season 3 was filmed across four different luxury resorts in Thailand, each offering its own unique slice of paradise. Filming primarily took place at the Four Seasons Koh Samui, known for its private hillside villas and panoramic ocean views; followed by Anantara Bophut Koh Samui, a beachfront resort with lush gardens and a tranquil spa; Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, tucked away in a national park with overwater villas and serene lagoons; and Rosewood Phuket, a chic, eco-luxury retreat nestled along the beautiful waters of Emerald Bay.

Thailand’s vibrant culture, serene temples, and tropical coastlines provide an exotic and spiritually rich backdrop for the latest drama. The Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, for example, is built into the hillside on a former coconut plantation, giving spectacular views of the Gulf of Siam. The most notable feature that fans will recognize from here are the monkey statues that cover the entire hotel—a feature used to dramatic effect in the latest season.
These stunning resorts not only highlight the country’s natural beauty, but also bring a sense of escapism and opulence that perfectly contrasts the tension unraveling among the guests.
Recommended Activities
- Take a Thai cooking class.
- Visit the sacred temple featured in the show, Wat Pu Khao Thong, on the north coast of Koh Samui.
- Enjoy a private longtail boat tour through the islands.
- Book a wellness retreat or Thai massage.
- Visit other notable places shown in season 3, including: Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park, Choeng Mon Beach, Fisherman’s Village night market, and Café Del Mar on Kamala Beach.
