2025 marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, and across the UK, destinations are holding special events and exclusive experiences, including new exhibitions, openings, talks and workshops for her fans to enjoy.
For those of you who are lifelong fans of hers, this is the perfect year to plan a trip to England, and Nerdventures has all the information you need to get started!
Main Highlight: The Jane Austen Festival

Location: Bath, England
If you want to have the trip of a lifetime, then the Jane Austen Festival is the way to go! This 10 day festival takes place every September and completely immerses its guests in the Regency era while celebrating all things Jane Austen.
This is the largest and longest running Jane Austen Festival in the world, with over 3,500 people attending each year. Throughout the 10 day event, you’ll enjoy events inspired by the timeless works of Jane Austen, including: guided walks, costumed balls, theatrical performances, dance workshops and much more! Some past activities have included a nighttime, costumed soiree at the Roman baths, as well as a Regency Costumed Promenade, which fills the streets of Bath with over 1,000 people in Regency dress. And for her 250th Anniversary celebration, you can expect to partake in even more special events!
The full program of events has not yet been released. Tickets will go on sale in Spring 2025.

Bath, England
- Start off with a stop at the Jane Austen Centre and the famous Pump Room and Assembly Rooms.
- Jane’s homes at Chawton and Steventon.
- The picturesque village of Lacock, a popular setting for period dramas. Lacock’s Church Street and High Street both appear in Emma and Pride & Prejudice.
- Goodnestone Park in Kent, home to Jane’s brother.

- Visit Jane’s former school room (only open for 2025), cited as the inspiration for Austen’s Mrs Goddard’s school in Emma.
- Watch one of the world-premier theatre productions at the Theatre Royal Bath.
- Enjoy a Jane Austen inspired afternoon tea at The Regency Tea Room.
- Visit The Vyne, a large stately home where Jane and her sister attended society dances.
- Take a Regency Dance or Embroidery workshop.
- Visit the site of Steventon Rectory, where Jane Austen was born and lived until she was twenty-five and where the initial drafts of Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice were written.
- See the unveiling of the Jane Austen statue at Winchester Cathedral.
- Visit the film locations used in Jane Austen films/television series – ask us for the full list!
- Take a tour of the Holburne Museum (featured in Bridgerton!) with a costumed guide.
- Visit a traditional posting-house.
- Enjoy the relaxing waters of Bath’s famous Roman hot springs.
